Public Alerting System

The Public Alerting System communicates local emergency information on short notice to registered users during wildfires, floods and other disasters.

When you register for the Public Alerting System, you select the zone(s) you want emergency notifications for. You will be notified if an Evacuation Alert or Evacuation Order is issued or rescinded within the zone(s).

The Public Alerting System is available in the Regional District's electoral areas, the City of Prince George and the District of Mackenzie. The Public Alerting System is not currently available in the Village of McBride and Village of Valemount.

The Public Alerting System is different from the BC Emergency Alert, a broadcast intrusive alert the Province of BC sends out at the request of partners like local governments. BC Emergency Alerts are only sent in the most severe emergencies like high-risk wildfire and flood evacuations that immediately threaten human life.
