The Public Alerting System communicates local emergency information on short notice to registered users during wildfires, floods and other disasters.
When you register for the Public Alerting System, you can select the zone(s) you receive emergency notifications for. You will then be notified whenever an Evacuation Alert or Evacuation Order is issued or rescinded for that area.
The Public Alerting System is free for anyone in the Regional District's electoral areas, the City of Prince George and the District of Mackenzie. The Public Alerting System is not currently available in the Village of McBride and Village of Valemount.
The Public Alerting System is different from the BC Emergency Alert, a broadcast intrusive alert the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness sends at the request of a Local Government, First Nation, partner agency or the Province. BC Emergency Alerts are only sent in the most severe emergencies like high-risk wildfire and flood evacuations that immediately threaten human life.
