The Public Alerting System (PAS) communicates local emergency information on short notice to registered users during floods, wildfires and other disasters.
When you register for the PAS, you can select the zone(s) you receive emergency notifications for. You will then be notified whenever an Evacuation Alert or Evacuation Order is issued or rescinded for that area.
The PAS is free for anyone in the Regional District's electoral areas and the City of Prince George. The PAS is not currently available in the District of Mackenzie, Village of McBride and Village of Valemount.
The PAS is different from the BC Emergency Alert, a broadcast intrusive alert the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness can send at the request of a Local Government, First Nation, partner agency or the Province during emergencies like high-risk floods and wildfire evacuations. BC Emergency Alerts are only sent in the most severe emergencies when there is a an immediate threat to human life.
