Building in the Agricultural Land Reserve
Accessory buildings in the ALR need approval from the ALC before you apply for a building permit
How to apply
You can submit Building Permit applications and documents by:
- email, hand delivery or mail
Before applying, you should contact Development Services to check if your property zoning allows an accessory building. Visit the Zoning page
Required documents
The following documents are required before you can apply for a permit:
- Building Permit application form [PDF/279KB]
- Plumbing Permit application form [PDF/35KB]
- site plan
- two copies of building plans to scale
- preferred scale of 1/4" per ft, printed on 11” by 17” or larger

- construction details [PDF/126KB]
- Appointment of Agent form [PDF/150KB] if you are using a contractor
- title search
- within the last three months
- Record of Sewage registered with Northern Health
- visit Engineers and Geoscientists BC to find a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner
- engineering schedules and/or reports (if applicable)
- truss layout and details if applicable
- $100 application processing fee
