Subdivision

Subdividing is the process of dividing a single piece of land into two or more parcels. It can be a complex process that involves many agencies. The Ministry of Transportation and Transit and the Provincial Approving Officer review proposed subdivisions to ensure they follow provincial regulations and local bylaws, and that they are in the public’s best interest.

When the Ministry of Transportation and Transit is reviewing a subdivision proposal, they forward it to the Regional District to assess if it aligns with local bylaws. The Ministry may refuse applications that do not align with Regional District bylaws.
