The Regional District Board of Directors establishes different types of committees to support its work:
established by the Chair of the Board
operate until terminated by the Chair or its mandate is fulfilled
make written recommendations to the Board through the Committee Chair
hold meetings that are open to the public and scheduled in conjunction with the monthly Regional Board meetings
Current Standing Committees include:
Public Safety and Emergency Management Standing Committee
Agriculture Standing Committee
Reconciliation Standing Committee
Climate Action and Adaptation Standing Committee
Environment and Parks Standing Committee
Sub-Regional Services Standing Committee
established by the Board to investigate a specific matter
automatically dissolve once the task is completed
make written recommendations to the Board through the Committee Chair
hold meetings that are open to the public and scheduled by the Committee Chair
members are appointed by the Board and at least one Director serves on the committee
Current Select Committees include:
Select Committee on Regional Broadband Connectivity
Select Committee on Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants
established when technical or specialized advice is required by the Board
The only current Advisory Committee is the Cultural Services Advisory Committee.
Community Consultation Committees
Community Consultation Committees are established by the Board to advise and make recommendations on a particular local services like:
fire protection
rescue services
community sewer and water systems
community halls
other services funded and provided at the local level
Members are appointed by Board and they must be residents of the service area the committee is established to serve. The committees provide advice and recommendations on budget, capital purchases and projects. Various committees are established in each Electoral Area:
