Regional Hospital District 15-year Financial Plan

The Regional Hospital District Board has approved a 15-year financial plan which outlines the financial impacts of future Northern Health funding requests on the Regional Hospital District. Typically, regional hospital districts contribute up to 40% of capital expenditures for health facilities within their region. Exact costs of future requests, including the new patient care tower at University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) are unknown, but they are expected to have significant impact on taxation levels in the region. The Regional Hospital District is exploring options to ensure that the financial impact for residents is sustainable.

Regional District responds to changes to Emergency and Disaster Management Act

The Regional District is submitting a letter to the provincial government outlining the need for more information and collaboration with regional districts on the development of regulation for the Emergency and Disaster Management Act. It is also asking the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness to consider creating a regional district working group to co-develop these regulations and that the Ministry create a ‘What We Heard’ report with the feedback received from local authorities and how the Ministry plans to address comments received regarding the new Emergency and Disaster Management Act requirements.
