Most emergencies are handled by first responders like police, fire departments and paramedics. However, for larger emergencies like floods and wildfires, the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George’s helps ensure residents in electoral areas are prepared, safe and informed.
In larger emergency events, the Regional District coordinates a response and recovery through an Emergency Operation Centre (EOC). The EOC team are trained to investigate, plan and provide resources to help deal with the event and the residents affected, and this includes initiating evacuation alerts and orders.
