Waste and recycling accepted at this site
Vanway Recycling Depot and Regional Transfer Station is designed for household waste:
if you are a West Lake, Beaverly or Mud River resident you will have a Pass Card for 50 transfer station visits per year
if you are a City of Prince George resident there is a $6 fee to dispose of your excess garbage (there is no fee to drop off recycling or yard and garden waste)
Commercial and large loads should be taken to Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill.
Multi-material recycling collection is temporarily suspended at some Regional District transfer stations and landfills.
The Prince George residential curbside recycling collection program operated by Recycle BC is not impacted by this service interruption, so the majority of Prince George households can continue to use this recycling service.
If you are a Prince George and area resident not serviced by the residential curbside collection program you can take your recycling to:
Hart Return-It Centre on the Hart Highway, open Monday to Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Alternatively, if you have space you can clean and store recycling until the new depots are operational.
You can recycle small loads of metal at the Vanway Recycling Depot and Regional Transfer Station or the Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill. This includes:
