Dates: October 15 to 17, 2025
Time: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm daily
The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is conducting annual maintenance and water main flushing on the Bear Lake Community Drinking Water System from Wednesday October 15 to Friday October 17, 2025. This important work helps to maintain water quality and ensure the continued safety and reliability of the community’s drinking water supply.
What to expect
During these flushing activities, you may notice:
- temporary discoloration of the water (yellow, brown or cloudy appearance)
- brief fluctuations in water pressure
- possible air in household plumbing
These conditions are temporary and not a health concern. The discoloration comes from naturally occurring mineral deposits and sediment being stirred up in the pipes.
What you can do
- avoid doing laundry, dishwashing or other water-intensive tasks during the listed times to prevent staining
- if your water is discolored, run a cold-water tap (preferably an outdoor hose bib or bathtub tap with no filter or aerator) for several minutes until the water runs clear
- check filters and aerators on faucets and /tap to make sure it is clean after running the water
- water is safe to use once it clears up
The Regional District appreciates your understanding and cooperation during this maintenance to keep your drinking water safe and reliable.
