Asbestos disposal permits will not be processed June 27 to July 12
Regular processing will start again on July 13

Controlled waste requires special handling and it can only be received at Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill.

Permit needed before disposal

  • asbestos (friable and non-friable)
  • biosolids (waste sludge from municipal treatment facilities)
  • condemned foods
  • contaminated soils
  • international waste

Approval needed before disposal

  • creosote treated wood
  • sterilized biomedical waste (received from certified sterilization facilities)
  • sterilized sharps (received from certified sterilization facilities)
  • wood ash from industrial operations

Time restrictions on disposal

  • bulky waste over 1.5 m3 and 2.5 m long must be deposited at least one hour before the landfill closes
  • dead animals must be deposited at least three hours before the landfill closes
  • food processing waste must be deposited at least one hour before the landfill closes
