RHD approves funds for McBride and Mackenzie hospital projects

The Fraser-Fort George Regional Hospital District approved $461,310 in funding to support projects in Mackenzie and McBride.  For Mackenzie, $58,400 was approved to support a new nurse call system.  In McBride, $402,910 was approved to support the Team Care Station Renovation.  The funding from the Regional Hospital District represents 40% of the total cost of the projects.

Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants approved

The Regional District is providing $33,600 in grants to seven different regional cultural organizations to support various initiatives through the Arts, Culture and Heritage grant.

  • $5000 to the Downtown Business Improvement Association for Winterfest
  • $5000 to the Mackenzie Community Arts Council for an outdoor pop-up art exhibit
  • $3600 to the Mackenzie Outdoor Route and Trail Association for entertainment and showcase at the Morfee Lake Scramble
  • $5000 to the Prince George Folkfest Society for the Dak’et, Shun Inli (Music in the Fall) Indigenous music festival
  • $5000 to the Prince George Symphony Orchestra for enhanced measures for the 2023 Pops in the Park event
  • $5000 to Theatre Northwest to support ASL interpretation for the 2023/24 Mainstage Season
  • $5000 to Wishbone Theatre to support the production of “Showdown – A Western Musical”

Parking lot improvements planned for RDFFG office

The Regional District will be moving forward with plans for parking lot improvements at its 155 George Street office in Prince George.  The project calls for an expansion of the current parking lot to meet increased need as well as security improvements to the lot.  The project is budgeted at $505,000.

Community Grants

The Board approved the following requests for Community and Recreation Grants:

  • $4300 to the Nukko Lake PAC for swim lessons
  • $1500 to the Miworth Community Association for Halloween fireworks
  • $35,000 to the Pineview Funtimers Slow Pitch League for ball field upgrades
  • $25,000 to the Willow River Volunteer Fire Department for operating expenses
  • $5500 to the Cariboo Ferndale Community Association for insurance and program expenses
  • $4000 to the Shel-Glen Improvement Society for operating expenses
  • $4600 to the Bear Lake Improvement Society for community clean-up and landscaping expenses
  • $6900 to the Bear Lake Recreation Association for delivery and landscaping and repairs expenses
  • $5491 to the Dunster Community Association for insurance expenses
  • $7500 to the Dunster Community Forest Society for fire protection kits
  • $7500 to the McBride District Volunteer Firefighters Association for fire protection kits
  • $14,677 to the Tete Jaune Community Club for fire protection kits
