On November 13, leaders from all levels of government came together to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Regional Advocacy. This agreement shows their commitment to working together on major issues affecting our region.

The MOU is signed by Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Chief Dolleen Logan, MPs Bob Zimmer and Todd Doherty, MLAs Rosalyn Bird, Sheldon Clare, and Kiel Giddens, Regional District of Fraser-Fort George Chair Lara Beckett, and Prince George Mayor Simon Yu.

First drafted in 2024, the MOU helps the different levels of governments collaborate on shared priorities. This year, the partners updated the agreement to include newly elected provincial representatives and prioritized goals including:

  • expanding addiction treatment services and exploring a regional treatment centre
  • improving healthcare access, especially staffing across the region
  • strengthening public safety through faster responses and working closely with law enforcement
  • supporting economic development, including strategies to meet local infrastructure needs
