The calendar has transitioned to fall and so have the recreation centres in McBride and Valemount.

Over the last week, ice has been installed in both the Robson Valley Recreation Centre in McBride and the Canoe Valley Recreation Centre in Valemount.

The Regional District is in the process of working with User Groups to determine the ice schedule for the 2023/2024 season and expect to have an ice schedule posted within a month.

The Regional District is pleased to announce that additional staffing is in place, including the hiring of Wes Keim as Recreation Programming and Facilities Supervisor. The additional staff means a return to more consistent operating hours for both facilities.

For fall and winter, operating hours are as follows:

Robson Valley Recreation Centre
  • Monday to Sunday, 6:00 am to 9:00 pm
Canoe Valley Recreation Centre
  • Monday to Sunday, 6:00 am to 9:00 pm

These hours are subject to change so users are encouraged to contact the facility to confirm.

Users of the Robson Valley Recreation Centre are reminded that the Village of McBride has declared a local State of Emergency for drought conditions. The Village of McBride has permitted water use for arena operations, but the Regional District is looking at ways to decrease water use in the facility including reduced ice floods and other measures.
