Starting on Wednesday November 12, the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is making two temporary changes to landfill and transfer station operations to reduce the impact on residents from the CUPE 1699 strike.
Schedules changed at four rural transfer stations
The operating hours at Buckhorn, Chief Lake, West Lake and Willow River* Regional Transfer Stations are temporarily changing to Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm to match Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill's schedule. This change helps to coordinate hauling waste from the transfer stations to the landfill.
$6 household garbage fee waived
The $6 fee for a small load of household garbage (under 100 kg) is temporarily waived at Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill. This offer is available to all Regional District residents, but it is specifically designed to help residents in electoral areas where transfer stations are closed because of the CUPE 1699 strike.
This offer only applies to bagged household garbage that does not contain demolition, land clearing or construction waste. If a load of household garbage weighs over 100 kg, the regular fee of $100 per tonne will apply to the entire load.
