Corporate workplan

The Regional District's 2026 to 2027 Corporate Workplan was approved. The workplan demonstrates the organization's approach to strategic implementation, accountability an transparency and is aligned with the five pillars in the Regional District's Strategic Priorities:

  • Indigenous and Intergovernmental Partnerships
  • Organizational Strength and Adaptability
  • Quality Community Services
  • Awareness and Engagement
  • Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action

Volunteer fire department funding and equipment purchases

Several volunteer fire department bylaws were updated to move grants to a flat fee to reduce administrative burden, and to add or increase honorariums for some chief, captain and lieutenant roles as approved in the 2026 Budget. The Board of Directors also approved the purchase of a frontline water tender/pumper for Valemount and District Volunteer Fire Department, a frontline water tender for Pineview Volunteer Fire Department and a frontline water tender/pumper for Ferndale/Tabor Fire Departments.

There are 13 volunteer fire departments and three rescue agencies that operate as Regional District services and they train to recognized standards to respond to emergency call-outs for fires, and medical and motor vehicle incidents.

North Central Local Government Association AGM and Conference

The Board of Directors approved a $5,000 sponsorship for the North Central Local Government Association AGM and Conference taking place from May 20 to 22 in Prince George. The Regional District is co-hosting the event with Lheidli T'enneh First Nation and the City of Prince George and 250 delegates from across North Central BC are expected to attend.

The North Central Local Government Association is a coalition of cities, towns, First Nation communities, villages and regional districts that works to connect communities, identify common challenges and facilitate positive change.

Grants awarded

Regional Grants in Aid were awarded to:

  • Community First Foundation for $2,000 for the Backpack Buddies weekend meal program
  • Scouts Canada - Camp Hughes for $3,700 for tree and brush removal equipment

Community Grants in Aid and Recreation Grants in Aid were awarded to:

  • Northwest Invasive Plant Council for $25,000 for invasive plant management
  • District C Farmer's Institute for $3,000 for networking, educational and AGM event 

Electoral Area A (Salmon River-Lakes)

  • Nukko Lake Recreation Commission for $1,056 for insurance
  • Pilot Mountain Volunteer Fire Fighter Club for $4,600 for volunteer appreciation
  • Northwest 4-H Club for $10,000 for a cargo trailer

Electoral Area C (Chilako River-Nechako)

  • Beaverley Community Association for $6,974 for insurance

Electoral Area D (Tabor Lake-Stone Creek)

  • Pineview Recreation Commission for $8,000 for Sunfrolics and summer events

Electoral Area F (Willow River-Upper Fraser Valley)

  • Sinclair Mills Education and Recreation Club for $2,870 for a first aid course

Electoral Area G (Crooked River-Parsnip)

  • Youth Wellness Society of Mackenzie for $5,000 for a mental health summit

Electoral Area H (Robson Valley-Canoe)

  • Dunster Community Association for $5,900 for insurance
  • Kiyooka Land Trust Foundation for $2,500 for community outreach and education
  • The Robson Valley Youth Initiative for $5,000 for equipment
  • Valemount Community Sports Day Association for $2,500 for Valemountain Days
