Waste and recycling accepted at this site
You can drop off small loads of household garbage. Make sure that the garbage is bagged and properly placed into the transfer station bins. You should also check that the bin doors close properly to prevent animals accessing the garbage.
Commercial and large loads should be taken to Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill.
Multi-material recycling collection is temporarily suspended at some Regional District transfer stations and landfills.
The Prince George residential curbside recycling collection program operated by Recycle BC is not impacted by this service interruption, so the majority of Prince George households can continue to use this recycling service.
If you are a Prince George and area resident not serviced by the residential curbside collection program you can take your recycling to:
construction debris like concrete, asphalt and roofing materials
dead animals
drywall
furniture and mattresses
soil
used oil, filters and containers
You can effectively deal with with yard and garden waste by composting in your backyard. The Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS) has more information on composting and runs workshops.
There is also a centralized composting facility at Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill.
When you buy new tires you can leave your used tires with the retailer for recycling. You can also recycle used tires that are off rims at drop-off locations. Visit Tire Stewardship BC for more information.
