“The 2025 budget reflects rising financial pressure from inflation, regulatory requirements and asset management. The budget strives to balance managing costs with strategic investments in capital projects in services such as solid waste management and 9-1-1 emergency response,” says Regional District Board Chair Lara Beckett.

Beckett also notes that an increase or decrease in the overall requisition does not always translate to what residents see on their tax bill. The budget affects communities differently depending on the services provided to the area, fluctuations in property assessments and a change in the amount of residential or commercial properties that share in funding a service. However, a decrease in the tax rate per $100,000 of residential assessment value may not result in a decrease on the tax bill for many homeowners in the region. The average increase in property assessments across the region was 5.99%, which means the overall amount homeowners are taxed on may have increased.

Tax Rates

The 2025 tax rates are based on regional and sub-regional service tax requisition budgets and BC Assessment's residential property values from the 2025 completed assessment roll. The dollar amounts listed are per $100,000 of residential assessment values.
