Electoral Area A OCP project update
There was an update on review of the Official Community Plan (OCP) for Electoral Area A (Salmon River-Lakes). OCPs establish the long-term community vision, goals and policies to guide the Regional District Board’s decisions on how land is used and developed.
The project team has completed the initial phases to initiate the project, identify and review technical issues and undertake public engagement, and they are now beginning to draft the new OCP. That draft should be completed in early 2025 and it will be available for residents to review and provide feedback on.
Mental Health and Addictions Accord
The Board of Directors supported the Mental Health and Addictions Accord, a high-level commitment document developed for local governments, mental health agencies and service organizations across Central and Northern BC. It outlines shared principles and actions to address the mental health and addictions crisis affecting communities. The accord is a living document and it is being developed in advance of the Mental Health and Addictions Symposium on November 13 and 14, 2024 by the event co-hosts Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, City of Prince George, Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and North Central Local Government Association.
