9-1-1 call answer services one year contract

A one year contract with Emergency Communications for BC Inc. (E-Comm) was approved to provide 9-1-1 call answer services. The estimated cost of the 2025 calendar year contract is $603,070 and it is subject to consumer price index and material call volume increases.

This contract is for a service area that includes the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and partners Cariboo Regional District, Bulkley-Nechako Regional District and Kitimat-Stikine Regional District who receive 9-1-1 services through fee-for-service contracts. The previous contract with E-Comm expired in December 2024, and during 2024 there were 104,476 9-1-1 calls handled for the service area.

Starting in 2026, Fraser-Fort George 9-1-1, a service provided by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, will take over answering 9-1-1 calls in this service area, determine the nature of the emergencies and transfer callers to police, fire or ambulance dispatch centres as required.
