Ice-making complete in McBride and Valemount recreation centres

News Releases

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George completed the ice-making process at Robson Valley Recreation Centre in McBride and Canoe Valley Recreation Centre in Valemount and the ice is currently available for user groups and residents.

However, this does not guarantee the ice surfaces will be available for continuous public use. If there is escalated job action by CUPE 1699 and they withdraw services from the facilities, the Regional District may be able to retain the ice in the facilities, but it does not have the exempt staff (non-union and/or management) required to safely maintain it for residents’ daily use.

The Regional District website is updated daily with the service impacts from job action. Before visiting the recreations centres, residents can check for any changes to operations at rdffg.ca/JobAction
