The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George’s landfills and transfer stations are currently following their regular operating schedules after CUPE 1699 served the Regional District with 72 hours strike notice on October 15.
Essential services
If CUPE 1699 initiates job action at the Regional District's landfills and transfer stations, an essential services designation from the BC Labour Relations Board includes the following:
- Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill is required to remain open five days per week for eight hours per day
- Mackenzie Select Waste Landfill and Regional Transfer Station is required to remain open three days per week for eight hours per day
- Valemount Regional Transfer Station is required to remain open three days per week for eight hours per day
Some transfer stations' operating hours may be impacted during job action, but residents can expect there will be locations open within the Regional District's network of sites where they can dispose of their waste.
If job action impacts landfill and transfer station operating hours, residents will be updated at rdffg.ca as soon as possible
