The June 18 meeting was held in the Village of McBride. The Board of Directors had the opportunity to meet with Village of McBride council and community members during the trip, and they toured local attractions, services and facilities including Robson Valley Recreation Centre, Koeneman Regional Park and the Dore River erosion mitigation project.
Dome Creek recreation facility receives Community Works Funds
The Board approved funding of up to $600,000 in Community Works Funds to replace a recreation facility in the community of Dome Creek.
As of May 31, 2026, the Regional District has received a total of $14,257,868 in Community Works Funds and funded 84 projects. The Regional District's current Community Works Fund Agreement is in place from 2024 to 2034 and is anticipated to provide $762,356 in funding each year.
The Community Works Fund is one of the funding streams in the Build Communities Strong Fund, a stable, predictable funding source for communities to make strategic investment in infrastructure.
Fraser-Fort George Endowment Grants
There was $101,699 in Fraser-Fort George Endowment Grants recently awarded to 28 projects in Electoral Areas A, C, E, F, G and H:
The endowment funds were established with funds from Northern Development Initiative Trust and the electoral areas' Community Grants In Aid budgets. The Prince George Community Foundation manages these permanent funds and community groups and non-profit organizations receive grants from the investment income generated.
Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants
Eleven non-profit organizations will receive a total of $55,000 in Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants to deliver programs that support the Regional District’s Cultural Vision:
- Fraser Headwaters Alliance for $5,287 for the This River Runs Through Us arts project celebrating the Fraser River
- Huble Homestead/Giscome Portage Heritage Society for $7,500 for the Huble Diary Project website featuring all of Al Huble’s diary entries and digital exhibits to provide historical and geographic context
- Theatre NorthWest for $10,000 recommended to replace flooring in their lobby and rehearsal space for patron, artist and staff accessibility and safety
- Prince George Regional Art Gallery Association for $7,334 to support Two Rivers Gallery Community Art Days event collaborations at Huble Homestead’s Kids’ Carnival and Island Mountain Arts' ArtsWells events
- The Exploration Place for $5,400 to install permanent, retractable step stools in restrooms and at water fountains to improve accessibility and safety
- Prince George Metis Community Association for $3,000 to support honorariums and expenses for local and regional Indigenous artists, musicians and cultural presenters at a community picnic to empower the Metis to act against gender-based violence
- Dunster Fine Arts Society for $5,000 recommended to support a summer film camp for Robson Valley youth
- Northern BC Maker Collective for $1,600 recommended to support the Art Meets Tech showcase and provide supplies for artists’ workshops
- Northern BC Queer Connection Society for $3,000 recommended to help host the 29th annual Prince George Pride Parade
- Prince George Community Band for $2,300 to purchase new percussion equipment and sheet music
- Mackenzie Community Arts Council for $4,579 for exterior signage as part of the ongoing major renovations, repairs and accessibility improvements of their new building

- Shell Glen Volunteer Firefighters Association for $9,220 for radios
- Willow River Volunteer Fire Department for $25,000 for operating expenses
- Shell Glen Improvement Society for $18,000 for court restoration
Electoral Area G (Crooked River-Parsnip)
- Bear Lake Recreation Association for $691 for sound system repair, $1,000 for delivery fees and $2,378 for plumbing
