Electoral area residents in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George can get financial support to help make their properties FireSmart and more resilient to wildfire.

The first step is to request a free, confidential FireSmart home assessment from one of the Regional District's wildfire mitigation specialists. The assessment identifies practical steps residents can take to reduce wildfire risk around their property, like using non-combustible building materials and managing trees and vegetation.

When the recommended work is completed, residents may be eligible to receive a 50 per cent rebate on eligible costs, up to a maximum of $5,000.

The rebate helps lower the cost of wildfire preparedness upgrades, making it easier for residents to protect their properties and builds safer, more resilient communities.
