Community members have provided valuable feedback on the Robson Valley Recreation Centre’s current summer schedule. In response, the schedule from Monday June 9 to Sunday August 31 is expanded to:
Monday to Thursday, 6 am to 2 pm and 6 pm to 9:30 pm
Friday, 6 am to 2 pm
Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays, closed
An open house is planned for residents this fall to provide the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and the facility's local Community Consultation Committee with more feedback to consider when planning future summer schedules and to improve user access. The details of this open house will be advertised in advance.
Background information
The decision to decrease the operating hours was carefully considered by both the Regional District and the facility's local Community Consultation Committee.
The daily cost to operate and maintain the Robson Valley Recreation Centre has increased and the facility needs long-term repairs and upgrades. These costs are funded by local taxes and the Regional District and the Community Consultation Committee adjusted the operating schedule to respond to increased costs and needed repairs and upgrades.
The summer operating hours were reduced based on feedback from local residents last fall at the Open House and from a public survey. The feedback was that facility users prioritized the September to April ice season.
If you have more questions about the summer schedule, contact the facility at rvrc@rdffg.bc.ca.
