As of October 17, ice-making is continuing at Robson Valley Recreation Centre in McBride and Canoe Valley Recreation Centre in Valemount. If work can progress under normal business operations, the ice surfaces are expected to be ready for user groups by October 28.
CUPE 1699 served the Regional District with 72 hours strike notice on October 15. Both recreation centres are currently open Monday to Sunday from 6 am to 9 pm. If there are delays or work stoppages from job action that impact ice-making or operating hours, residents will be updated at rdffg.ca as soon as possible.
Robson Valley Recreation Centre improvements
Over the past few weeks, the Regional District has worked on some projects to improve the entrance awning and clean up the parking lot and entrance way to Robson Valley Recreation Centre. Both of these projects should be finished by the end of next week.
The next project is to begin replacing exterior doors, starting with the ones near the curling rink. This will start at the end of October and the Regional District will coordinate with the McBride Curling Club to make sure the club is informed about the timing of the work.
