Electoral Area A official community plan review

The Regional District is reviewing the official community plan for Electoral Area A (Salmon River-Lakes) which includes the Salmon Valley, Nukko Lake, Chief Lake, Ness Lake and Reid Lake areas.

The current Electoral Area A Official Community Plan was prepared in 1996 and adopted in 1997. It is time for an update to reflect and balance the natural environment, population growth and housing and development needs.

About official community plans

  • official community plans establish the long-term community vision, goals and policies to guide how land is used and developed
  • public input in official community plan updates ensure the vision, goals and objectives reflect current community values and needs and informs how land is used and developed, and identifies social, environmental and economic priorities for the next 20 years
  • official community plans can inform budgets and grant applications to other levels of government and agencies
  • input on technical matters is gathered from Regional District administration, First Nations, local government agencies like the school district, provincial ministries and the public
