Learn about the latest changes to the BC Building Code

Building inspections ensure construction work is completed according to approved plans. This includes any changes noted by building inspectors.

Building permits include a list of mandatory inspections. As the permit holder, you are responsible for making sure that you or your contractor books inspections. If you do not, you may have to uncover and expose your work for inspection.

After an inspection, the building inspector emails reports to the applicant and contractor. If there are infractions, these items must be fixed. A second, re-inspection must take place to confirm the infractions are fixed. The permit will be finalized and closed once all mandatory inspections are passed.
