The $6 fee for a small load of household garbage (under 100 kg) is no longer waived, and it will be charged at Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill and Vanway Regional Transfer Station.

Landfill and transfer stations

During the CUPE 1699 strike, the BC Labour Relations Board Essential Services Order is in place:

Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm
Mackenzie Select Waste Landfill and Regional Transfer Station is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 9 am to 5pm
Valemount Regional Transfer Station is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm

Starting Wednesday November 12, three transfer stations schedules are temporarily changing to match Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill's schedule to help to coordinate hauling waste from the transfer stations to the landfill:

Buckhorn Regional Transfer Station will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm
Chief Lake Regional Transfer Station will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm
West Lake Regional Transfer Station will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm

$6 household garbage fee waived

Starting Wednesday November 12, the $6 fee for a small load of household garbage (under 100 kg) is temporarily waived at Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill. This offer is available to all residents, but it is specifically designed to help residents in electoral areas where transfer stations are closed.

This offer only applies to bagged household garbage that does not contain demolition, land clearing or construction waste. If a load of household garbage weighs over 100 kg, the regular fee of $100 per tonne will apply to the entire load.

155 George Street office building

The Regional District's main office is open Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:45 pm. You can also get assistance during these hours by emailing district@rdffg.bc.ca, or calling 250-960-4400 or 1-800-667-1959.

On Thursday November 6 at 6:55 am, CUPE 1699 notified the Regional District that their members will no longer:

drive outside of the City of Prince George limits for work if they normally work at the 155 George Street office building or Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill
move furniture and boxes if they normally work at the 155 George Street office building
load Recycle BC super sacs during pick-up

As well, previous job action continues and CUPE 1699 members will no longer:

perform temperature checks of compost piles or feedstock
monitor or triage IT help desk tickets
work overtime and will not work outside their regular scheduled hours, except as required to fulfill essential services obligations
train managers or exempt employees in any manner, except as required in the essential services order to provide essential service levels
collecting fees at Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill, Mackenzie Select Waste Landfill and Regional Transfer Station, Valemount Regional Transfer Station, Vanway Regional Transfer Station, Robson Valley Recreation Centre and Canoe Valley Recreation Centre
perform any illegal dumping cleanups including all remote locations, unstaffed locations, and all illegal dumping at facility gates or outside facility boundaries
collect fees, accept payments or assist with any financial transactions at reception or at the service centre at the 155 George Street office building including creating invoices and receipts (all payments and invoicing tasks must be completed by managers or exempt staff)

*Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill is included in the BC Labour Relations Board essential services designation. The Regional District is pursuing legal advice on CUPE 1699's withdrawal of service and will provide an update as soon as possible.
